Human Growth Hormones, safer than Steroids?

Estimated read time 3 min read

In sports, particularly in the bodybuilding scene, you get to hear words like Steroids, roids, and Human Growth Hormone or HGH.  Steroids and Human Growth Hormones are very popular in the bodybuilding industry. These substances proliferate to all enthusiasts of bodybuilding. Because of heavy advertising that practically shouts Buy oral steroids American, everyone in the business knows about them. Heavy advertising, on all platforms like the internet, television, print, and radio ensure that enthusiasts know about them and buy them.  Some athletes and professional combine the two and claim that it is effective and yet others claim that one is better than the other. Lets us take a look at each one, shall we?

Human Growth Hormones or HGH

HGH is a synthetic hormone that is nearly identical to the hormone produced by the Pituitary gland. This gland is responsible for growth spurts in children and is mainly responsible for how tall, or how short a person is. This hormone wanes and decreases in quantity as a person ages. This led scientists to hypothesize that they can reverse aging simply by reintroducing HGH into the body. While it seems like a very sound hypothesis, it is unfortunately not that simple. Although it is relatively safe versus the use of anabolic steroids, the keyword is “relative”. Human Growth Hormones, still exhibit negative effects, especially when used in large quantities.

Human Growth Hormones, safer than Steroids

HGH is also relatively “newer” than Steroids, having been developed in 1985 mainly for children exhibiting slow growth and being too small for their age. Some people claim that by ingesting or spraying HGH, they induce the body to naturally produce the hormone itself. These are unfounded and heavy commercialization is largely to blame. Advertisements blatantly claim that HGH can “reverse” the human body’s biological clock and therefore reverse ageing. Some go to the beauty route.  Claims include reversal of hair loss and that it improves hair color. Also that it normalizes your blood pressure and improve your sex life altogether. Medically, HGH is always prescribed as an injectable for taking it orally is counterproductive, as it will be digested by the body before it can be of any use. Again this is one of those things that are conveniently omitted from those advertisements.

Anabolic Steroids

An anabolic steroid is a derivative of testosterone, also a naturally occurring hormone in the human body. It is different from steroids wherein the focus is solely muscle mass and less on the androgenic side. What this means is that the effects would not be wasted on facial hair or having a deep voice but rather on protein absorption and muscle growth. Studies show prolonged use of steroids varies from person to person. One thing is for sure, the substance is prone to abuse and can cause more harm than good to the body. In my perspective, I would do a lot more research before taking any of these two compounds at all.
